Ukulele Fall (1st - 3rd grade)

The Los Lomitas Uke Group is open to students in grades K-3. The uke is an excellent instrument on which to learn how to play music. It’s relatively simple to learn, easy to tote around, inexpensive, super fun, and timelessly popular! In this ensemble, we will jump right into the fun stuff and learn how to play music on the ukulele. By the end of the course, students will know a few chord positions, will be able to play a couple of songs on the ukulele, and be able to sing along. Our instructors bring a classroom set of ukuleles with them to every class for the kids to use, and we highly recommend that students also have a ukulele at home to practice.

Instructor Biography:

Anthony Jewett first picked up the guitar at seven years old and over the next thirteen years, he studied classical, jazz, and contemporary guitar method and theory under some of the finest teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was during these early years when he learned the true excitement and joy of live performance, and ever since Anthony has traveled the US performing in and recording for rock, pop, jazz, and metal bands. Anthony earned his AA in Music Technology from Foothill College, which helped him develop the skills necessary for creating music and entertainment available via iTunes, YouTube, and other major distributors. As a private guitar and ukulele instructor over the last several years, his emphasis has been placed on developing a bond between the student and their instrument within a relaxed, lighthearted environment.
