Sweet and Savory Cooking Around the World K-2nd grade LL Fall (K-2nd grade)

Does your child enjoy eating a variety of different cuisines, or maybe you are looking for some new, simple and fun recipes especially for kids that they will want to cook and then recreate at home?

Well, here is the opportunity for your child to learn, cook and enjoy sampling sweet and savory cooking and baking recipes from around the world, during this weekly returning after school delicious and exciting culinary adventure!

From grocery shopping tips, storing food, menu planning, prepping, trying out new recipes and ingredients, understanding your culinary interests and senses, cutting to mincing, plating and serving techniques, knife skills, food safety and cleaning up; these cooking classes designed for the youngest of kids, are the perfect blend of learning professional cooking techniques.These are hands on and interactive cooking classes, so there will always be time for learning, questions and answers.

The sweet and savory recipes that will be taught include:

Indian Dal Lentils and Basmati Rice Pilaf
Japanese Ramen and Dumplings
Italian Spaghetti Bolognese and Strawberry Cannoli
Thai Pad Thai and Fried Cinnamon Bananas 
Korean Chap Chae Noodles and Sweet Pancakes
American Chicken Noodle Soup and Turkey Sliders
English Shepherd’s Pie and Layered Fruit Trifle
Chinese Orange Chicken and Pineapple Fried Rice
Greek Avgolemono Egg and Lemon Soup and Spiced Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
French Crepes and No Bake Eclair Cake

Meenu Bhasin, is a chef and also teaches cooking and baking classes to adults and children. She teaches a variety of cuisines, and her specialty is Indian. Chef Meenu has worked at several cooking schools including, Sur La Table, Draeger’s and the Jewish Community Center.Commencing in the Fall, Chef Meenu will be teaching 12 cooking classes a week at Las Lomitas School, La Entrada School, Phillips Brooks School, Woodland School and to a group of elementary home-schooled children.Chef Meenu is the mother of two Las Lomitas graduates! Chef Meenu’s website is www.chefmeenu.weebly.com
