Sweet and Savory Cooking Around the World Spring – LE (4st -8rd grade)

Does your child enjoy eating a variety of different cuisines, or maybe you are looking for some new, easy and fun recipes especially for kids that they will want to cook and recreate at home?
Your child will have the opportunity to cook and enjoy sampling sweet and savory recipes from around the world, during this weekly after school delicious and exciting culinary adventure! From grocery shopping tips, storing food, menu planning, prepping, trying out new recipes and ingredients, understanding your culinary interests and senses, cutting to mincing, baking, plating and serving techniques, knife skills, food safety and cleaning up, these cooking classes designed just for kids are the perfect blend of learning professional cooking and baking techniques. These are interactive cooking classes, so there will always be time for learning, questions and answers.

Classes are offered Thursdays or Fridays.

The sweet and savory recipes that will be taught include:
Indian Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic/Cumin Buttered Naan
American Turkey Burgers and Banana Splits
English Shepherds Pie and Shortbread Biscuits
Dutch Vegetable Croquettes and Apple Pie Bites
Greek Chicken Souvlaki with a dipping sauce and Yogurt Cheesecake
Swedish Meatballs and Chocolate and Coconut Balls
Korean Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Cinnamon Pancakes
French Ratatouille and Crepes
Japanese Dumplings and Orange Sponge Cake
Mexican Chicken Tortilla Soup and Brownies
Brazilian Cheese Croquettes and French Toast
Chinese Veggie Chow Mein and Egg Tarts

Meenu Bhasin, is a chef/private cooking instructor, and teaches cooking and baking classes to adults and children. She teaches a multitude of cuisines, and her specialty is Indian cuisine. Meenu teaches sweet and savory cooking classes around the world at Las Lomitas Elementary School, Phillips Brooks School and Alto International School. Meenu has also worked as a chef at several cooking schools including, Sur La Table, Draeger’s and the Jewish Community Center. Meenu is also the mother of 2 La Entrada graduates!
