Whether you want to join a band and tour the world or strum your favorite song behind closed doors, if you want to play the guitar you need a solid foundation. You need technique, rhythm, and knowledge of harmony. This class will focus on developing basic technique, rhythm, learning chords, strumming, and developing a basic ability to play the instrument. This is the class for new students and returning guitar class students. Students will be placed in bands based on their experience level. Each student will learn new songs and perform in a concert at the end of class!
This class is put on by the Riekes Center For Human Enhancement, so students are also welcome to do an additional performance at the bi-monthly Riekes Center Creative Arts Recital if they would like to showcase their ability for a larger audience.
Required Resources: Acoustic or Electric Guitar*, small guitar amp (if electric), guitar picks, guitar tuner, 3-ring binder to keep guitar notes, plus notebook paper. *Please call or email the instructor if you have questions about purchasing or renting an instrument.
