Curiosity and creativity come together as children discover the science behind art. Artists and scientists are great observers and experimenters. Children learn observational skills as they look closely at the characteristics of birds, plants and insects. Experiment with color mixing before making watercolor illustrations. Draw animal portraits adding symbols to reflect diet and habitat. Make objects move by creating simple machines inspired by the great inventors from Da Vinci to Muybridge and much more.
This class will explore a variety of drawing, painting, and found object materials in a fun and encouraging environment.
Students will come away with:
- Improved observational skills
- Ability to make connections between science and art
- Improved critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excitement to continue exploring and creating with a variety of materials
